What it is

IRON is a full-size humanoid robot built by XPENG's Pengxing Intelligence, first unveiled at AI Tech Day on November 6, 2024, with a new generation revealed at AI Day 2025 on November 6, 2025.

The new-generation IRON stands about 1.78 m tall and weighs 70 kg, with roughly 65 degrees of freedom across its body (some reports say 76) and 22 DOF per hand. It is the first to use a fully wrapped flexible lattice and soft skin material, giving it a highly human-like appearance (with customizable body types), and it features a human-like spine that enables catwalk walking, bending to touch the floor, and getting up autonomously after a fall.

On the intelligence side, it carries three in-house Turing AI chips (2,250 TOPS in total) and a second-generation VLA large model that integrates the three cognitive models VLT, VLA and VLM. Deployed on-device, it can complete complex tasks autonomously without teleoperation. It is also the industry's first to use an all-solid-state battery.

On July 24, 2026, IRON began small-batch trial production at a Guangzhou factory. XPENG aims to become the world's first company to mass-produce high-order humanoid robots by the end of 2026, with global market launch and delivery in 2027. The IRON robot business carries a pre-money valuation of US$5 billion.
