What it is

Tiangong Ultra is an extreme-sports edition of the humanoid robot developed by the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center, focused on fully autonomous high-speed movement.

On April 19, 2025, Tiangong Ultra won the world's first humanoid robot half-marathon (Beijing Yizhuang) with a time of 2 hours 40 minutes 42 seconds. During the World Robot Conference in August 2026, Tiangong Ultra ran the 100 m in 9.39 seconds (improving to 9.32 seconds in the heats, beating Usain Bolt's 9.58-second human record), won the 400 m in 38.15 seconds, and ran the 1500 m in 2 minutes 21.64 seconds, all substantially faster than the human records.

The robot stands 1.8 meters tall and weighs just 75 kg, with a top speed of 12 km/h. Lightweight design and algorithm optimization address motor heat dissipation, battery endurance, and terrain adaptation, delivering about 4 hours of runtime and a leap from "being able to run" to "outrunning humans."
