What it is

Alex is a humanoid robot from Boardwalk Robotics, a Pensacola, Florida company founded in 2017 out of IHMC's robotics program. The current platform has 19 joints, including two 7-DoF arms, a 3-DoF spine and a 2-DoF neck, with 10 kg continuous payload, sub-1 Nm backdriving torque and an EtherCAT-based, IHMC-derived software stack. Boardwalk offers commercial pilot and research units and positions Alex for manufacturing, logistics, maintenance and disaster response.
